Resumen

Los cefalópodos atraviesan fases tempranas de vida particularmente sensibles que incluyen el desarrollo embrionario dentro del huevo, la fase planctónica de paralarva y la fase juvenil. Durante este periodo, sus estructuras corporales (manto, cabeza y brazos o tentáculos) se desarrollan de manera progresiva mientras el embrión permanece protegido por una cápsula cuya complejidad varía entre grupos. Aunque esta cápsula cumple una función protectora, su permeabilidad puede incrementarse a lo largo del desarrollo embrionario, permitiendo la entrada de contaminantes al interior del huevo. Como consecuencia, tanto el fluido perivitelino como el vitelo pueden actuar como reservorios de sustancias tóxicas, lo que puede comprometer procesos fisiológicos, morfológicos y conductuales, y reducir la probabilidad de supervivencia durante estas fases tempranas de vida.
