Registro de una parvada de la gaviota de Franklin (Leucophaeus pipixcan) en la ciudad de Chilpancingo, Guerrero, México

Abstract

The species presence records allow us to infer on the movement and distribution areas of taxa. On April 14 and 16, 2025, it was recorded a flock of 130 and 60 individuals from Franklin seagulls (Leucophaeus Pipixcan) flying over the city of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico. This sighting is located at approximately 85 and 89 kilometers from the records of the coast and the event in the Tuxpan Lagoon in Iguala de la Independencia, Guerrero. This species is of aquatic and coastal habit, so it is rare in bodies of water inside the continent. Registration is interesting because there was no sighting of the species in large flock inside the entity and the possible land migratory routes that the species could use.
